Shuffle a standard 52-card deck and deal out seven tableau piles from left to right. The first pile has one card face up, the second has two cards (one face down and one face up), and so on until the seventh pile has seven cards (all face down except the top card, which is face up).
Place the remaining cards face down to form the stock pile. Leave space for a waste pile and four foundation piles.
Gameplay:
Moving Cards: Cards can be moved between tableau piles and to the foundation piles according to the following rules:
Cards in the tableau piles are built down by alternating colors (e.g., red on black) and descending in rank (e.g., 8 on 9).
An empty tableau pile can be filled with any King or a sequence of cards starting with a King.
Cards from the tableau piles or the top card from the stock pile can be moved to the foundation piles if they match the suit and follow ascending order (e.g., 2 of Hearts can be placed on the Ace of Hearts).
Cards can be moved between tableau piles if they form a descending sequence of alternating colors.
Stock and Waste Piles: Draw cards from the stock pile one at a time. The top card of the stock pile is available for play. When a card is drawn, it can be played to the tableau piles or foundation piles. Once the stock pile is empty, the waste pile can be flipped over to become the new stock pile, except in some variations where the waste pile cannot be reused.
Winning: The game is won when all four foundation piles are built up from Ace to King in each suit.
Additional Notes:
Klondike Solitaire is a game of skill and strategy, requiring players to plan their moves to uncover hidden cards and create sequences for building foundation piles.
There are many variations of Solitaire, each with its own rules and objectives, including Spider Solitaire, Freecell, Pyramid Solitaire, and more.
Solitaire can be played with physical cards, but it’s also widely available as a computer game and as a mobile app.
